Trophies and Awards

IDA Honorary Membership Award
Honorary Membership is the highest award of the Association. Its purpose is to recognize the individual deemed to have made outstanding contributions to the art and science of dentistry, or to the dental profession, over a sustained period of time.
Although this award may be for service that is provincial, national or international in nature, an outstanding contribution at the national level shall be a principal consideration. Most often, recipients of Honorary Membership would be dentist members of the IDA.
Oral Health Promotion Award
The Oral Health Promotion Award recognizes individuals or organizations who have improved the oral health of Canadians through oral health promotion. Oral health promotion aims to increase the control of individuals and communities over their oral health. It involves members of those communities and adopts a number of complementary approaches. These include building healthy public policy, creating supportive environments, strengthening community action, developing personal skills, and increasing the prevention of oral diseases and disorders. For more information on the types of programs, projects and policies recognized by the Oral Health Promotion Award and the evaluation criteria, please see the nomination form.
Distinguished Service Award
The Distinguished Service Award may be given to a dentist or other person to recognize either an outstanding contribution in a given year, or outstanding service over a number of years. It may also recognize outstanding contributions to the dental profession at the academic level, corporate level, specialty society, council, commission or committee level.
